SHINE for Kids
Brought to you by The CorriLee Foundation, the night will be an exciting and fun exploration of the music of some of the rock stars who have been photographed by the legendary Tony Mott. A group of leading Australian artists are giving their time, energy and talents to raise awareness of the rights and needs of children who have a parent in prison.
With their help – and yours – we want to raise sufficient funds so that SHINE for Kids programs can reach many more children.
The evening will feature the inimitable hostings styles of James Valentine and Julia Zemiro with the superb musical backing of Peter Northcote and band.
Featuring
- Rock Photographer Tony Mott's work and discussions with Tony
- SHINE for Kids Ambassador Danielle Cormack
Comedian Mel Buttle
Singers
- Grace Knight
- Jeff Duff
- Virginia Lillye
- Christa Hughes
- Deb Spillane
Let’s make this night a great success
Funds raised at this event will make a practical and lasting difference in:
- Helping to maintain parental bonds between a child or children and their mum or dad who is in prison
- Providing mentors who will support the child in their education and life choices
- Funding the operations of our Child and Family Centres at 13 prisons.
- Boosting our programs to all States
But most of all your contribution will help in:
- Reducing intergenerational offending
- Ensuring these kids have a childhood
- Ensuring these kids stay in the education system and do well
- Seeing these kids develop into adults and contribute to their communities in a positive and meaningful way – and becoming loving and responsible parents.
You can’t put a price on that!
About SHINE for Kids
SHINE for Kids is largely a volunteer-based organisation. Our programs and services are recognised as contributing to breaking the cycle of intergenerational offending. We have a positive social impact, enabling children and young people to grow into valued community members.
Our programs include: counselling and support, mentoring, educational support, transport and visitation programs, holiday activities, and peer group Support. Our programs are culturally appropriate for all children, with specific programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children and their families.
Last year, SHINE for Kids supported over 5,000 children of prisoners, 21% more than the previous year. Australia has over 60,000 children affected by a parent in prison. With increasing rates of parental incarceration, and greater numbers of children impacted, the need for the programs and services of SHINE for Kids has never been greater.
